Calcifying odontogenic cyst causing an atypical complication: Case report

Introduction: Calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC) is a benign cystic type of tumor, without neoplastic character and unusual in nature. Its development slow asymptomatic, being characterized by mass that affects the maxilla mandible. Case Report: A 40-year-old male presented with mild extra intraoral facial swelling region right upper incisors, symptoms. On examination, he observed intact normal colored buccal mucosa. Radiographic examination showed radiolucent lesion between teeth 11 12. Excisional biopsy was performed. The histological diagnosis calcifying cyst. Conclusion: an uncommon most often occurs maxilla. However, it should be differential other lesions. In addition, after conservative surgical removal, long-term follow-up recommended. Because, although rare, recurrence can occur.
